I’m a transgender sailor, attempting to build a self-sufficient lifestyle, less dependant on being tied to one place, free to travel and explore the world.
I’m passionate about alternative energy and lowering my impact on the world.
This is my attempt to document the realities of boat life, the beautiful, the difficult, the mundane, and joyful.
Don’t buy a boat. That’s what eveyone says. Sail on somebody else’s boat. The two happiest days of a sailor’s life, is the day that they buy a boat, and the day that the sell it, right?
I bought a boat. Why? Stupidity? An irrational belief that it won’t be that bad?
OK, owning a boat does have some advantages. I can just sail off whenever I want. OK, the primary diesel filter is clogged, and the rigging needs professionaly checking, but hey, those are just little things, right? Right?
But seriously, if I want to fulfill my dream of exploring the world, having my own boat allows me to set my course, to modify my boat and make it my home, explore self-sufficincy, and self reliance.
